Military Records 202% Surge In Terrorist Surrenders In One Week

More than 150 terrorists have surrendered to troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, within the past week, marking a significant rise from the over 50 recorded in the preceding week.

The figure represents a 202 per cent increase in the number of terrorist commanders, fighters and affiliates who laid down their arms during the period.

The development was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Captain Mohammed Goni.

The military attributed the surge in surrenders to sustained intelligence-driven operations and increased pressure on terrorist groups operating across the North East.

According to the statement, the intensified operations have placed growing constraints on the terrorists’ movement, logistics networks, supply routes and capacity to maintain fighters within their enclaves.

Some of those who surrendered also handed over weapons and ammunition to the troops, the military said.

The Joint Task Force said the outcome was supported by ongoing military operations, strategic communication efforts and civil-military engagements designed to weaken terrorist organisations and persuade their members to abandon the insurgency.

It added that all individuals who surrender are subjected to profiling and documentation in line with established procedures and applicable laws.

Operation HADIN KAI said it would continue its offensive against terrorist networks while creating opportunities for more fighters and affiliates to surrender and intensifying efforts to disrupt recruitment and logistics.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their resilience and charged them to maintain pressure on terrorist elements operating in the North East.

The task force reaffirmed that its operations remain focused on degrading terrorist capabilities, safeguarding civilians and supporting efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the region.
