Troops of Sector 2 under Operation HADIN KAI have intensified offensive operations against remnants of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), destroying several terrorist hideouts and logistics bases during ongoing clearance operations in Yobe State.
Security sources said the operation is aimed at flushing out fleeing ISWAP fighters who escaped from the Lake Chad Islands and the Timbuktu Triangle following sustained military offensives in the North-East.
According to intelligence sources, quoted by security analyst, Zagagola Magama, on Thursday, the terrorists had attempted to establish new hideouts in inland communities around Gujba Local Government Area, prompting troops to launch coordinated clearance operations across the area.
During the offensive, troops discovered and destroyed multiple terrorist camps and life-support structures used to sustain the insurgents.
The ongoing operation is focused on the general areas of Mahdiyya, Lagarawa, Lamusheri, Ngarbai and Wulle, where troops are conducting systematic sweeps to locate and eliminate remaining terrorist elements while denying them freedom of movement.

The military said the operation forms part of the Armed Forces’ broader strategy to prevent fleeing insurgents from regrouping after suffering significant setbacks in the Lake Chad basin and the Timbuktu Triangle.
Military sources noted that troops are maintaining sustained pressure on the terrorists through aggressive patrols and clearance missions designed to consolidate recent operational gains and prevent the re-establishment of terrorist camps.
Operation HADIN KAI has continued to intensify intelligence-driven operations across the North-East in a bid to dismantle terrorist enclaves, disrupt logistics networks and restore lasting peace and security to communities affected by insurgency.
The military said the clearance operation remains ongoing, with troops continuing the pursuit of fleeing terrorists while expanding security dominance across the affected areas.
