Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have neutralised a suspected terrorist and recovered four motorcycles during a dawn offensive operation in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation was conducted on Friday, September 4, 2026, following credible intelligence on the presence of terrorists around the Yantumaki Forest.
Acting on the intelligence, troops of Sector 1 launched a coordinated offensive against the terrorists in the early hours of the day.
The statement was signed by the Media Information Officer, Aliyu Danja, on Saturday.
The troops engaged the terrorists with maximum firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee into the surrounding bushes.
During an exploitation of the area after the engagement, the troops confirmed that one terrorist had been neutralised.
They also recovered four motorcycles, one mobile phone and five empty intravenous drip containers suspected to have been used in providing medical treatment to wounded terrorists.
The discovery of the medical supplies could point to the presence of a makeshift treatment arrangement used to attend to injured members of the terrorist group operating in the area.

The operation represents another tactical setback for terrorist elements operating in Katsina State, particularly those relying on motorcycles to move personnel and conduct attacks across remote communities.
The recovery of the motorcycles is also expected to further disrupt the mobility and operational capacity of the terrorists within the area.
Operation Fansan Yamma said the latest success demonstrates the troops’ determination to maintain sustained pressure on terrorist networks, degrade their capabilities and deny them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
The military urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious movements and activities within their communities.
According to the task force, public cooperation remains critical to identifying terrorist hideouts and enabling troops to dismantle criminal networks operating across the North-West.
