Troops of Sector 2 under Operation Desert Sanity have neutralised 15 suspected terrorists and dismantled a logistics base during a coordinated operation around Lamusheri Village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
Military sources said the early morning operation on February 22 followed weeks of intelligence gathering supported by satellite imagery and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) air platforms. The location was identified as a launch point for attacks and a logistics hub for insurgent activities.
According to the sources, troops, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, encountered resistance as they advanced toward the target. However, they reportedly outmanoeuvred the insurgents and blocked escape routes during the engagement.
Fifteen suspected terrorists were neutralised in the firefight, while several others fled with possible gunshot injuries.

Security personnel also uncovered defensive structures within the camp and destroyed facilities described as life-support infrastructure used by the group. Five tricycles and two vehicles allegedly used for logistics and operations were destroyed at the scene.
Recovered items included arms and ammunition, as well as two bandoliers and carmel pouches.
The military said two personnel sustained gunshot wounds during the operation but are in stable condition. Authorities added that while the general security situation in the area is calm, it remains unpredictable, with troops maintaining heightened vigilance.
