Troops of Joint Task Force North East (Operation Hadin Kai) have neutralised a suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighter during an ambush operation in Borno.
According to intelligence sources quoted by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagagola Makama, on Monday, the operation occurred on Sunday night in the Timbuktu Triangle area.
It was gathered that the troops intercepted and engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle.
“On sighting the troops, the terrorists fled in disarray in multiple directions. During immediate exploitation of the area, one ISWAP fighter was discovered neutralised,” the source said.
