The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is leading an initiative to rally women across Ondo State in support of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
The announcement was made on Friday in Akure by Yetunde Adeyanju, a former Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperative Services, during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, a political organisation aligned with the minister.
Adeyanju stated that the women’s wing of the group has been tasked with mobilising at least 95 per cent of women in the state. “The congresses are behind us, and we are now focused on mobilising women across the state for Asiwaju’s re-election in 2027. The Minister of Interior has given the women’s wing a clear target—to ensure that at least 95 per cent of women in Ondo State support the President. That is why mobilisation efforts are being intensified to ensure no woman is left out,” she said.
She praised the President’s efforts in promoting women’s inclusion and highlighted their growing representation at the national level.
Olumuyiwa Asagunla, Director-General of the group, said the organisation had regained momentum after recent political challenges and was now focused on intensive grassroots mobilisation. The meeting brought together leaders from the council, state executives, women’s wing, and coordinators at local government and ward levels to strengthen cohesion and strategy.

According to Asagunla, the group has established structures across all 203 wards in Ondo State and is extending its reach to polling units. “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the preferred choice, and by God’s grace, we will see him lead Nigeria beyond 2027. In the last election, we secured about 68.9 per cent of the vote in Ondo State. This time, we are targeting 95 per cent,” he said.
Yele Omogunwa, former senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District (2015–2019) and chairman of the group’s Leaders Council, said the meeting aimed to reassess strategies and rebuild unity after the party congresses. While satisfied with the resolution of state congress issues, he criticised the conduct of some local government exercises as poorly handled.
He urged members to remain loyal and committed, stressing the importance of transparency and unity within the group.
