Nigerians have been deported from the United States over alleged involvement in various criminal activities, as part of an ongoing immigration enforcement policy by U.S. authorities.

The deportees, who were flown into the country aboard a Delta Airlines flight, arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Wednesday at approximately 9 a.m. They were received by officials from several Nigerian government agencies, who are expected to process them and determine subsequent actions.

Sources familiar with the development confirmed that the removal is part of a broader plan by the U.S. government to deport at least 3,000 Nigerians currently facing legal or immigration-related issues.

While the specific charges against the individuals were not disclosed, the deportation aligns with a longstanding U.S. policy targeting non-citizens convicted of crimes or found in violation of immigration laws.

The policy, which gained momentum under former President Donald Trump, reflects continued efforts by U.S. authorities to tighten immigration controls and streamline the removal of individuals deemed to pose legal or security concerns.

Officials in Nigeria have not yet made public statements regarding the identities of the deportees or what legal or reintegration measures may follow.
