Unity Cup: Super Eagles To Defend Title Against Jamaica, India, Zimbabwe

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to defend their Unity Cup crown in a four-nation tournament featuring Zimbabwe, Jamaica, and India.

The Unity Cup, an international football competition celebrating AfroCentric and global diaspora communities, returns to Charlton Athletic’s The Valley stadium in South London from May 26 to 30, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed on Wednesday.

Nigeria will open the tournament against Zimbabwe in the first semi-final on May 26, while Jamaica and India will meet in the second semi-final the following day, promising a clash of diverse footballing cultures.

The winners of both matches will face off in the final to claim the Unity Cup trophy.

Ibrahim Gusau, NFF President, expressed confidence in the Super Eagles’ preparedness for the tournament, highlighting the team’s determination to defend their title without underestimating their opponents.

“The Nigeria Football Federation is pleased with another opportunity to see the Super Eagles compete at the highly exciting and entertaining Unity Cup Tournament,” Gusau said.

“As perennial champions, the Super Eagles will look to retain their title again this summer, even as they will not underrate the other participating teams, viz India, Jamaica and Zimbabwe.

The tournament promises to be explosive and that is the setting in which the Super Eagles thrive best.”

Nigeria enters the 2026 edition as defending champions, having defeated Jamaica on penalties in the 2025 tournament.

Their path to that title included a 2-2 semi-final draw against Ghana. The Super Eagles also lifted the inaugural Unity Cup in 2004, cementing their status as a dominant force in the competition.
