Veteran Nigerian actor and musician Harry B Anyanwu has appealed to members of the Nigerian film industry and the general public to support veteran actress Maureen Okpoko, who reportedly lost her sight several years ago.
Anyanwu made the appeal in a video shared on X on Monday, revealing that the actress requires financial assistance to access treatment that could help restore her vision.
Speaking from Enugu State, where he said he was with the actress, Anyanwu called on Nollywood practitioners and other well-meaning Nigerians to come to her aid.
“I am right here in Enugu with my sister of inestimable value, Maureen Okpoko. Nollywood, let’s reach out to her and support her. She’s blind, but she can restore her sight,” he said.
He urged actors, actresses, producers and fans of the veteran actress to contribute towards her medical treatment, stressing that collective support could give her an opportunity to recover.

Anyanwu also expressed optimism that with the right care and assistance, Okpoko could regain her sight and return to good health.
Maureen Okpoko is widely recognised for her performances in numerous Nollywood productions and remains one of the industry’s veteran actresses.
The appeal has since drawn reactions on social media, with many users calling on members of the entertainment industry to support the actress during the difficult period.
