VIDEO: Customers, Restaurant Workers Trapped as Two-Storey Building Collapses in Lagos

Many occupants have been trapped after a two-storey building under construction collapsed in the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos State.

First News learnt that the ill-fated building with an already completed section, was being used for commercial purposes before it collapsed on Saturday.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 9 am, trapping both employees and patrons inside the well-known EqualRight Restaurant in Ojodu Berger.

According to the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, five persons had been rescued alive.

He said, “We are approaching the situation systematically, using heavy-duty and light-duty equipment to get to ground zero.

“We have credible information that more people are still under the rubble, so we are moving from one layer to the next, carefully checking for any survivors before proceeding.”

The emergency response teams, the Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, National Emergency Management Agency, and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, were seen at the scene carrying out rescue operations.
