Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has delivered an emotional speech at the traditional wedding ceremony of his son, Gbolahan Adeleke, and his bride, Damilola Adio, an event that has since generated widespread reactions on social media.
The ceremony, which took place last weekend in Lagos, drew public attention after a video clip of the governor’s remarks went viral on Tuesday.
In the trending video, Adeleke recounted his long-standing discussions with his son about marriage, revealing that Gbolahan often jokingly told him he was still “testing” whenever the issue of settling down came up.
The governor, who is an uncle to Afrobeats star Davido, said he had closely observed his son’s past relationships over the years and realised they shared similar preferences in women. According to him, he was never convinced that the women previously introduced to him by his son were the right fit until Gbolahan brought Damilola home.
Adeleke expressed gratitude to the Adio family for accepting his son and entrusting their daughter to the Adeleke family.
“Gbolahan and I had discussed for a long time when he was going to bring home a wife. He would tell me, ‘Daddy, I’m still testing,’ and I would ask him how many times he was going to test,” the governor said.

He added that he always advised his son to wait for the right partner, noting that he was immediately convinced when Damilola was introduced to him.
“The day he brought home Damilola, I hugged him and said, ‘That’s it.’ I knew she was the one,” Adeleke said, declaring the occasion a moment of joy and thanksgiving.
The governor also assured the bride’s family of his commitment to the well-being of their daughter, pledging that she would be well cared for in her new home.
