A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed any possibility of a merger or coalition with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), warning that it will take legal action against individuals using the party’s name to advance such discussions.
The position was made on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, by the factional National Chairman, Abdulrahman Muhammed, during the inaugural meeting of the group’s National Working Committee (NWC) held at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
Muhammed said the faction would not tolerate what it described as unauthorised political engagements or representations capable of misinforming the public or undermining the party’s legal and organisational standing.
While affirming the constitutional right to freedom of expression, he stressed that such rights do not extend to actions that misrepresent the party or violate existing court orders.

“The PDP will take all necessary legal steps to address any conduct that borders on contempt of court or misrepresentation, in accordance with extant laws,” he said.
The development follows recent political interactions involving some figures within the faction and elements of the ADC, which had triggered speculation about a possible alliance ahead of future elections.
However, the faction’s spokesman, Ini Ememobong, had previously described the engagements as part of ongoing consultations, without confirming any formal coalition arrangement.
The latest stance underscores deepening internal divisions within the PDP, as rival blocs continue to assert competing claims over the party’s structure, authority, and political direction.
