Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid is set to headline the 2026 edition of Detty December Fest in Lagos, with the singer scheduled to take the stage on December 18 as the 13-day celebration of music, culture, food, fashion and entertainment begins.
The festival, produced by entertainment company Livespot360, will run from December 18 to 30 and will feature an expanded programme designed to accommodate a wider range of performers and entertainment experiences.
Wizkid will headline the main Festival Stage, while organisers have introduced a second performance platform, the Pulse Stage, which will provide opportunities for emerging artistes, new sounds and breakthrough talents from across Africa.
Livespot360 co-founder and Chief Creative Officer, Darey Art Alade, said the introduction of the additional stage was aimed at reflecting the growing international influence of African music.
“African music has never been more influential globally, and we believe our festivals should reflect that ambition,” Alade said.
He added that the Pulse Stage would give younger artistes an opportunity to perform alongside established stars and contribute to the development of the continent’s music ecosystem.
“The introduction of the Pulse Stage is particularly exciting because it gives the next generation of artists a platform to perform alongside some of the biggest names in music. That’s how ecosystems grow,” he added.
Organisers are expected to announce additional headliners in the coming weeks.
The 2026 edition follows the official launch of Detty December Fest in 2025, which attracted thousands of festivalgoers and featured a mix of international and Nigerian music stars.
The previous edition featured performances from artistes including Busta Rhymes, Gunna, Shenseea, Tiwa Savage, Diamond Platnumz, Phyno, Wande Coal, Fave, Young Jonn, Qing Madi, Ice Prince, Jux and Wizkid.
Wizkid’s return to the festival comes as the singer continues work on his highly anticipated seventh studio album.

The artiste released the joint EP Real, Vol. 1 with Asake in January and has since featured on collaborations with artistes including Vybz Kartel, Odeal and Jorja Smith.
He also collaborated with Tyla on “Dynamite” and Ayra Starr on “Gimme Dat”, with the latter receiving a nomination for Best African Music Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
The singer’s appearance at Detty December Fest will also mark another major Lagos performance following his 2025 tour in support of his 2024 album, Morayo, which reached No. 4 on the Billboard World Albums chart.
The expansion of Detty December Fest comes amid growing international interest in Lagos’ annual festive-season celebrations, which have increasingly become a major attraction for tourists, visitors and members of the Nigerian diaspora.
According to the MO Africa Company’s Detty December Report, festivities associated with the season generated an estimated ₦396.5 billion in consumer spending across Lagos.
The growing economic and tourism impact of the December festivities has also attracted government attention. Ahead of the 2025 celebrations, Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council established a presidential task force on Detty December to coordinate inter-agency support and strengthen tourism during the festive period.
With its expanded programme and introduction of the Pulse Stage, Detty December Fest 2026 is expected to offer a broader mix of established stars and emerging artistes while showcasing Lagos as a major destination for African music, culture and entertainment.
Detty December, which has become synonymous with Nigeria’s end-of-year festivities, is expected to once again draw music lovers, tourists and members of the diaspora to Lagos for a packed season of concerts, nightlife, food, fashion and cultural experiences.
