A woman has lost her life in a fatal road accident after the vehicle she was driving veered off the road and crashed into a roadside building in the Mongoro area, inward Ile-Zik, along one of Lagos State’s busiest routes.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a statement released on Sunday by its Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq.
According to the agency, preliminary findings revealed that the deceased was driving a Toyota Sienna with registration number LND 162 HB when she reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway before slamming into a nearby structure.
The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the driver’s immediate death. Authorities confirmed that she was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
LASTMA said its personnel, who were on routine patrol in the area, swiftly arrived at the scene, secured the accident site and directed traffic to prevent further incidents and minimise congestion.
Although the crash caused temporary disruption to traffic flow, the agency said normal movement was restored shortly after emergency responders completed their operations.

Security officers attached to the Afonka Police Post under the Shasha Divisional Police Headquarters also provided security throughout the evacuation exercise.
Reacting to the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the tragedy as a painful reminder of the dangers associated with speeding and reckless driving.
He urged motorists to drive responsibly, obey traffic regulations and avoid excessive speed, stressing that no journey is worth the loss of human life.
Bakare-Oki also advised drivers to ensure their vehicles are mechanically sound before embarking on trips, warning that vehicles with unresolved faults should not be driven until properly repaired.
The LASTMA boss extended the agency’s condolences to the family of the deceased, praying that they find the strength to cope with the loss.
