President Bola Tinubu on Sunday departed Lagos for Europe for his end-of-year break, ahead of an official visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The President is scheduled to participate in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit, following an invitation from the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The summit is set to hold in early January.
According to a statement from the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the weeklong event brings together leaders from government, business, and civil society to advance global discussions on sustainable development.
The 2026 summit will be held under the theme, “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” and will focus on connecting innovation, finance, and people to drive sustainable growth.

Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the summit. His trip follows a brief stay in Lagos to spend the end-of-year holidays after official visits to Borno and Bauchi states.
At the presidential wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Tinubu was received by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, government officials, and leaders of the All Progressives Congress.
