Tinubu Deserves Second Term, Has Performed Credibly — Bayelsa APC Chairman

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Warman Ogoriba, has said President Bola Tinubu remains focused on national development and deserves a second term in office, despite growing criticisms and calls for his resignation from some quarters.

Speaking in Yenagoa on Tuesday, Ogoriba expressed confidence in the President’s chances of re-election, insisting that the Tinubu administration has performed creditably since assuming office.

He described criticism as a normal feature of democratic governance and said it should not distract the government from delivering on its mandate.

“We expect criticism in politics, and we welcome constructive criticism. We are not worried about calls for the President’s resignation.

We are focused on development projects and ensuring that Nigerians continue to benefit from government policies,” he said.

Drawing comparisons with other democracies, Ogoriba noted that political leaders across the world often face similar pressure from opponents.

“Even the President of the United States faces calls to resign. The Prime Minister of Britain resigned recently.

These things are normal in politics. If someone does not like you and you are in office, that person can ask you to resign,” he stated.

The APC chairman maintained that Nigerians were already beginning to feel the impact of the President’s policies and programmes, adding that the administration’s achievements would translate into electoral support.

“We are confident of winning the next elections and continuing for another four years, God willing.

Where he has done well, people should say so. Where he has not done well, people should point it out,” he said.

Ogoriba argued that the administration had recorded significant progress in infrastructure development, citing the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and other road projects as examples of Tinubu’s commitment to national development.

“In terms of infrastructure and road networks, how many presidents in Nigeria have undertaken a coastal road project of this magnitude?” he asked.

On the economy, he acknowledged concerns about the rising cost of living but argued that increased salaries, improved state allocations and ongoing investments suggested that government reforms were yielding benefits.

“Look at the savings from subsidy removal and the increased allocations going to states. The President has challenged governors to explain how they are using the additional funds,” he said.

He dismissed claims of a growing opposition movement in Bayelsa, insisting that the APC remains focused on governance and mobilising support for its candidates.

“As an APC member and chairman of the party, I would say President Tinubu has performed above 90 per cent.

You also have the right to assess him in the way you consider appropriate, but this is my assessment,” Ogoriba added.

He reiterated that calls for Tinubu’s resignation were part of political competition and maintained that the administration would remain focused on delivering development projects and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
