Benue Gov Names Executive Secretary for New Education Board

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has appointed Dr Terna Francis (KSM) as the pioneer Executive Secretary of the newly established Benue Education Quality Assurance & Examinations Board, the Government House confirmed on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

The new board, created through legislation passed by the Benue State House of Assembly, merges the former Bureau for Education Quality Assurance with the now-defunct Benue State Examinations Board.

The consolidation aims to strengthen the state’s education sector and ensure children receive “a holistic, high-quality and competitive education.”

Governor Alia congratulated Dr Francis and charged him to use his experience, integrity, and innovation to reposition the state’s education assessment and quality assurance systems.

He emphasised that the board must act as a catalyst for continuous improvement, discipline, and elevated standards across all levels of learning.

The appointment highlights the administration’s commitment to reforming the education sector, improving school supervision, and raising student performance through robust monitoring and assessment frameworks.
