Boko Haram Demands N423m to Free Ex-Borno LG Vice Chairman, Other

Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly demanded a ransom of N423 million for the release of a former Vice Chairman of Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, Hon. Hassan Biu Miringa, and another abductee.

The demand was revealed in a now-trending video in which the two men allegedly kidnapped by the terrorists, appealed for help and intervention.

Miringa, identified in the footage, called on the government and well-meaning individuals to assist in securing their freedom.

According to a post by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, on Sunday, the victims were abducted on December 17, 2025, while travelling to Maiduguri.

In the video, they disclosed that their captors are demanding $150,000 each, amounting to a total of $300,000, for their release.

One of the abductees said they were taken hostage around 2:30pm and confirmed that they were still alive, appealing for urgent assistance to enable them reunite with their families.

The victims specifically appealed to Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur, as well as Hon. Mukhtar Betara Aliyu, Hon. Sule Ali Rimi, Hon. Yakubu Gambo Kimba and Alhaji Musa Dogo Biu, urging them to intervene on their behalf.

“We are pleading with them to come to our rescue. We are their sons,” one of the victims said, adding that the ransom demand was the only condition given for their release.
