Delta Government Debunks Rumours Of Former Governor Uduaghan’s Death

The Delta State Government has dismissed as false reports circulating on some online platforms claiming that former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan is dead.

The clarification was made by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Mr. Ossai Ovie Success, in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

According to Ossai, he contacted the family of the former governor after receiving inquiries from concerned individuals seeking confirmation of the reports.

He disclosed that he spoke directly with Uduaghan’s daughter, Orode Uduaghan, who confirmed that her father is alive and in good health.

“I have just seen reports circulating online claiming that the former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, is dead.

“Some people have been reaching out to me asking, ‘Ossai Ovie Success, is the news real?’

“I immediately reached out to his family to confirm. I spoke directly with his daughter, Orode Uduaghan, on the phone, and she confirmed that the news is false.

“Dr. Uduaghan is alive,” he stated.

Ossai condemned the spread of unverified reports, describing the circulation of false death rumours as irresponsible and harmful to both the family and members of the public.

“I am disappointed at those who spread such false information without verification.

“Spreading fake news about someone’s death is cruel, irresponsible, and causes unnecessary pain to the family and millions of Deltans who hold him in high regard,” he added.

He urged the public to disregard the rumour and avoid sharing unverified information, stressing the need for responsible use of social media and respect for public figures.

Some online media platforms had reported on Tuesday night that the former governor had passed away, triggering concern among residents and political associates across the state.

However, the statement from the governor’s media aide has since reassured the public that Uduaghan is alive and well.
