The Department of State Services (DSS) has filed a six-count charge against a 27-year-old man, Innocent Chukwuemeka Onukwume, accused of using social media to urge the military to seize power from the elected government of President Bola Tinubu.
The charges were filed on 11 November 2025 at the Federal High Court in Abuja, under case number FHC/ABJ/CR/610/2025, following posts the defendant allegedly made in October 2025 on his verified X handle (@theagroman).
Investigators claim Onukwume’s messages called for the dissolution of the All Progressives Congress administration and encouraged soldiers to intervene in governance.
The DSS said such statements amounted to an attempt to incite a breach of Nigeria’s constitutional order.
The agency cited provisions of the Criminal Code Act and the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act as the legal basis for the charges.

Onukwume, who was arrested in Oyigbo, Rivers State, after digital surveillance, remains in custody.
He is expected to appear in court later this week for arraignment, though the exact date has not been publicly confirmed.
The case comes amid growing official scrutiny of online content viewed as threatening national stability.
Security agencies have warned that digital expressions capable of promoting disorder or unconstitutional actions will continue to attract prosecution.
