Nollywood actress Faithia Williams has announced the death of her mother, revealing that the loss occurred just before her 55th birthday and was kept from her until after the celebration.
In an emotional post shared on Instagram on Monday, Williams said her mother passed away on the eve of her birthday party, which she marked on Thursday, February 5. “Unbeknownst to me, my beloved mother died on the eve of my party and the news was cruelly kept away from me,” she wrote.
Describing her late mother as her “cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner,” the actress said the reality of her passing has yet to fully sink in.
Williams added that her family has chosen to keep the matter private for now, asking the public for prayers and support. “Your love and prayers will mean a lot to me and my siblings this period. Burial details will be announced later,” she said.

Since the announcement, condolences have poured in from colleagues and fans across the entertainment industry. Actress Aisha Lawal wrote, “Allahu Olóhun a te won si afefe rere. So sorry ma.” Actor Muyiwa Ademola said, “Awwwww… So sorry darling. Please take heart. May her sweet and gentle soul rest in eternal perfect peace.” Wunmi Toriola also commented, “Oh no… Only God can comfort you as I can’t imagine how this will hit you. May God rest her soul.”
Faithia Williams, known for her roles in Nollywood films, has not yet disclosed the date of the burial.
