Super Falcons coach, Justin Madugu, has been honoured by the Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, with a three-bedroom bungalow and ₦50 million for his role in Nigeria’s triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The reward was presented at the Government House in Yola, where Madugu was received in a brief ceremony celebrating his contribution to the national team’s success. The gesture was confirmed on Friday, August 1, in a Facebook post by the governor’s aide, Pius Iliya.
“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on behalf of the Government and people of Adamawa State, has gifted Justine Pwanidi Madugu (Coach of Nigeria’s Super Falcons) a three-bedroom bungalow and a sum of ₦50m for leading the team into winning the 2024 Women African Cup of Nation that took place in Morocco this year,” the post read.
Madugu, who hails from Adamawa, played a key role in the Super Falcons’ journey to clinch a record-extending 10th continental title in Morocco earlier this year.

The Falcons’ 3-2 comeback win over hosts Morocco in the final sealed their place once again as Africa’s top women’s football team.
The team’s stunning run included ten goals scored and only two conceded throughout the tournament.
In the final, second-half strikes from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Jennifer Echegini turned the game around after going two goals down.
Madugu’s recognition by his home state adds to the honours the team has received following their return to Nigeria.
On Monday, President Bola Tinubu hosted the Falcons at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where each player received $100,000, while coaches and other technical staff, including Madugu, got $50,000 each, national honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), and three-bedroom apartments.
