Gov Ododo Demolishes Sambell Structure In Idoji Over Criminal Hideouts

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has ordered the demolition of Sambell Joint in Idoji, Okene Local Government Area, following intelligence that the site was being used by criminals as a base for unlawful activities.

The demolition, carried out on Thursday, January 15, 2026, targeted properties at GP. 23A, 23B, 24A, and 24B, Government Quarters, Idoji, Okene, registered under Certificate of Occupancy KG. 13958.

State investigations confirmed the structures were illegally acquired and repurposed as criminal hideouts.

The move is part of a broader initiative to invalidate fraudulently obtained land titles and reclaim properties misused for illegal purposes.

The government warned that anyone found facilitating criminal activity would face prosecution.

Speaking at the site, Governor Ododo reaffirmed his commitment to protecting lives and property, stating:

“Our foremost responsibility is to ensure the safety of Kogi residents. Any property exploited for criminal activities will be dismantled.”

He also acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in strengthening security across the state.

Security sources said Sambell Joint had been under surveillance after repeated complaints from residents about suspicious activities, including frequent movement of unidentified persons.

Locals praised the demolition as a timely intervention to restore peace and security in Okene and surrounding communities.

Governor Ododo emphasized that Kogi State will not tolerate criminal hideouts, noting that similar actions would be taken wherever illegal activities threaten public safety.
