Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has described the appointment of the new Emir of Zuru, His Royal Highness Alhaji Sanusi Mikailu Sami, Gomo III, as divinely ordained and a reflection of the will of the people.

Idris made the remark on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi when the Emir, accompanied by members of his council and prominent stakeholders, paid him a courtesy visit to express appreciation for his appointment.

The governor explained that due process guided the selection of the Emir, stressing that his choice was not influenced by personal ties but by the overwhelming support of the Zuru people.

“Leadership comes from God. I never knew him personally, but I approved his appointment because he was the people’s choice. His emergence is ordained by God and endorsed by his people,” Idris said.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the development of Zuru Emirate and Kebbi South in general, listing ongoing projects such as the Koko–Dabai road, renovations of schools and hospitals, and the planned installation of modern medical equipment at the Zuru General Hospital.

On security, the governor said efforts by his administration were yielding results, with many displaced communities and farmers returning to their homes. He pledged to continue people-focused governance despite what he described as the opposition’s campaign of calumny.

While paying tribute to the late Emir, Alhaji Sani Sami, Gomo II, Idris prayed for peace, prosperity, and divine guidance for the new Emir.

In his response, Emir Sanusi Mikailu Sami expressed gratitude to the governor for his support and for the concern shown during the late Emir’s medical treatment in London. He also commended ongoing developmental projects in Zuru, including the mega school for skill acquisition and the appointment of indigenes of the emirate into key government positions.
