Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has praised the Federal Government for suspending the planned increase in the National Examinations Council examination fees, describing the move as a major relief for Nigerian families.
The governor’s commendation was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.
According to the statement, Yusuf spoke while presenting appointment letters to 4,900 newly recruited teachers for basic and secondary schools and officially engaging 3,688 facilitators under the Abba Gida-Gida Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) Cohort V programme.

He said the Federal Government’s decision to halt the proposed fee hike demonstrated sensitivity to the economic realities facing many households, noting that it would ease the financial pressure on parents andp guardians.
The governor added that the suspension would also help improve access to education by ensuring that more students can register for the NECO examinations without additional financial constraints.
Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector through teacher recruitment, improved learning opportunities and policies aimed at expanding access to quality education across Kano State.
