Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) side Kun Khalifat FC have officially withdrawn from the league after being sanctioned for failing to honour their Matchday 24 fixture against El-Kanemi Warriors on Monday, February 2, 2026.
The League Management charged the club with breaching the NPFL Framework and Rules, imposing a fine of 10 million Naira.
Additionally, three goals and three points were awarded to El-Kanemi Warriors in line with league regulations.
Kun Khalifat FC, however, insist they had valid reasons for missing the fixture and claim that the League Management did not give their explanations due consideration.
In a statement released on February 3, 2026, the club said:
“As a club, we have tried to comply with the League’s rules and regulations, and we have made significant investments in our team and infrastructure. The NPFL has left us with no choice but to withdraw from the league.”

The withdrawal marks a significant development in the NPFL season, with fans and stakeholders reacting to the sudden exit of one of the league’s competitive sides.
The NPFL Management has yet to comment on the long-term implications of Kun Khalifat FC’s withdrawal on the ongoing season.
