Political commentator Reno Omokri has called for civility among supporters of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence that voters in Kano State may ultimately support the president’s re-election bid in 2027.
In a statement shared via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, Omokri described Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as a “formidable politician” who has contributed meaningfully to Nigeria’s democratic journey.
His remarks come amid growing speculation about Kwankwaso’s possible alignment with another opposition platform ahead of the next election cycle.
Omokri urged supporters of the president to maintain decorum in their political engagements, stressing that respectful conduct could foster unity and build bridges across party lines.
He warned against the use of insults and divisive rhetoric, noting that political maturity remains essential in a democratic society.
He further emphasised that opposition figures such as Kwankwaso play a critical role in strengthening democracy and should be treated with dignity.
According to him, demonstrating respect and civility could influence broader acceptance of the president’s leadership, even among political opponents and their supporters.
Highlighting developments in Kano State, Omokri pointed to several infrastructure and economic projects initiated or revived under the Tinubu administration.

These include the Ajaokuta–Abuja–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline, the Kano–Kaduna rail line, and the Kano light rail project.
He also referenced ongoing road projects such as the Kano–Maiduguri highway and the Kano–Kongolom road, alongside investments in rail transport aimed at boosting trade and agricultural exports.
He argued that these initiatives demonstrate the administration’s commitment to the region and could significantly shape voter sentiment in the coming elections.
Omokri’s comments come at a time when political activities are gradually intensifying ahead of the 2027 general elections, with shifting alliances and internal party dynamics already drawing public attention.
While acknowledging Kwankwaso’s political influence, he maintained that continuity in governance could further accelerate development in Kano and across the country.
The statement reflects ongoing efforts by political actors and commentators to frame the national conversation around leadership performance, political conduct, and voter expectations as Nigeria approaches another critical electoral cycle.
