Zulum Orders Mass Cabinet Exit, Dissolves Borno Executive Council

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has dissolved the entire Executive Council and relieved all commissioners of their duties in a sweeping administrative shake-up.

The announcement came on Monday, March 30, 2026.

The Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani, stated that the decision is effective immediately and aims to create an enabling environment for council members who may wish to contest elective offices in the upcoming general elections, in line with legal requirements for political appointees.

Commissioners have been instructed to hand over the management of their ministries to permanent secretaries on or before Friday, April 3, 2026.

Governor Zulum expressed gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their service, dedication, and contributions to the governance and development of Borno State.

Details regarding the reconstitution of the executive council or the appointment of new commissioners have not yet been released, leaving observers to anticipate further developments in the state’s political landscape.
