The Lagos for Prosperity Group (LPG) has declared support for a new political direction in Lagos State ahead of the 2027 governorship race, endorsing Peoples Democratic Party chieftain Laja Adeoye as its preferred candidate.
The endorsement was announced on Sunday, the 22nd of March, 2026, through the group’s spokesman, Kazeem Oshodi, who said the decision followed what the group described as a review of leadership needs in the state and rising demand for change.
Oshodi said Adeoye has the capacity to challenge the dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos politics and introduce a broader development model.
He said “After careful assessment of the current state of affairs in Lagos, LPG unequivocally endorses Prince Laja Adeoye as the next governor of Lagos State in 2027,”
He added that Adeoye reflects a leadership style rooted in inclusion, innovation, and social impact, describing him as a candidate capable of reshaping governance priorities in the state.
He explained that LPG is made up of professionals, youth groups, entrepreneurs, business actors, and community organisers focused on economic expansion and public participation in governance.
Oshodi pointed to Adeoye’s experience in real estate and business development, saying it gives him an advantage in understanding Lagos’ urban and economic pressures.
He said the group plans to build support networks across different segments of society to strengthen Adeoye’s bid for office.
While noting ongoing projects under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, including road works and rail services such as the Lagos Blue Line, Oshodi said gaps still remain in delivery outcomes.
“While we acknowledge some infrastructure strides under the present APC government, these efforts have often been marred by delays, incomplete execution, and unequal distribution of benefits.
He pointed to daily challenges faced by residents, including traffic congestion, high living costs, housing shortages, and unemployment.
“Lagos deserves more than selective flagship projects; it requires holistic, inclusive prosperity that benefits all social classes, locations, and communities”.
Oshodi said Adeoye’s private sector record in housing development shows capacity for large-scale urban solutions.
He added “His expertise in urban planning, innovation, and private-sector efficiency uniquely positions him to tackle Lagos’ core developmental challenges effectively.
He also projected a housing expansion agenda under Adeoye, focused on affordability and partnerships aimed at widening access to shelter.
He said: “Under a Laja Adeoye administration, Lagosians can expect a massive affordable housing revolution driven by partnerships and innovative financing models.

“This approach will address housing deficits, reduce slum proliferation, and expand access to decent housing for low- and middle-income earners.”
Oshodi said Adeoye would prioritise diversification of the state economy into technology, tourism, agriculture, and industrial development zones.
He added that such plans would reduce pressure on federal revenue dependence while creating more jobs within the state.
On transportation, he said the proposed administration would expand rail systems, improve bus operations, and introduce smarter traffic control systems to ease movement across Lagos.
He said education and healthcare reforms would also receive attention through investments in skills development, digital learning, and upgraded medical facilities.
Oshodi further highlighted security reforms centered on community engagement, technology use, and accountability in policing.
He also pointed to environmental plans including waste management systems that generate value and infrastructure designed to withstand climate pressures.
He said LPG has consistently pushed for stronger local government autonomy to improve governance at the grassroots level.
He called on political actors, civil society organisations, and residents to support Adeoye’s ambition, saying the group’s goal is a Lagos where development benefits all residents across different communities and income groups.
