Enzo Maresca has expressed remorse over the circumstances surrounding his departure from Chelsea, acknowledging that his resignation during the season created difficulties for the club.
The Italian coach, who was unveiled on Monday, June 29, 2026, as Manchester City’s new manager, said the choice to leave Chelsea was solely his and was not influenced by anyone else.
Maresca said stepping down from his position at Stamford Bridge made it possible for him to accept the opportunity to return to Manchester City, a club where he had previously worked, adding that he was delighted to begin the next phase of his coaching career.
