Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have carried out a series of coordinated airstrikes that significantly disrupted the logistics network of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the Lake Chad region, military authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
The overnight operation, conducted between April 21 and 22, targeted terrorist activity around the Kaniram Island axis in northern Borno State.
Acting on intelligence gathered through surveillance and reconnaissance missions, air units identified more than 30 boats believed to be used by ISWAP fighters for transportation and resupply along key waterways.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Lt. Sani Uba, on Wednesday, the military maintained sustained aerial observation before executing precision strikes after confirming the targets in line with established rules of engagement.
The strikes reportedly destroyed multiple boats and disrupted what officials described as a critical logistics hub for the group.
Follow-up attacks, guided by real-time intelligence, targeted fleeing militants in nearby vegetation, resulting in the neutralisation of more than 30 fighters.
Survivors were seen dispersing in disarray, suggesting a breakdown in coordination among the group.
In a related operation, additional airstrikes were carried out in the Sowolwolo area of the Sambisa Forest.

Military sources said three gun trucks were destroyed, and several militants were killed after target verification conducted in collaboration with operational partners.
Post-strike assessments indicated heavy losses on the part of ISWAP, with intelligence reports pointing to mass burial activities in the Mallam Fatori axis—an indication of the scale of casualties inflicted.
Ground forces have since moved in to consolidate gains, securing surrounding areas and preventing any regrouping by fleeing fighters.
The military says the operation underscores its ongoing strategy of combining air and ground forces to weaken insurgent capabilities and restrict their movement across the region.
The Military High Command commended the troops for what it described as an “impressive battle performance,” urging continued momentum in the campaign against insurgency.
Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist elements in the northeast until they are fully neutralised.
