NEMA Warns of Imminent Flood as Water Levels Surge in Adamawa

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has raised alarm over rising water levels at Bakin Kogi in Jimeta, Adamawa State, saying the measurement has surpassed the 6.0-metre warning mark and could trigger flooding.

In a statement shared on its X account on Wednesday, the agency stressed that “Low-lying areas of Jimeta and surrounding flood prone communities are under immediate threat.”

According to NEMA, water discharge from upstream has now gone beyond 3,222 m³/s.

The statement urged residents to follow safety directives without delay.

It also confirmed that “Displaced persons have already sought refuge at Limawa and Gwadabawa Secondary Schools.”
