The family of Saratu Jibo, a 37-year-old Nigerian woman reported missing after arriving in Doha, Qatar, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in the search for her.
Jonathan Jibo, Saratu’s brother, shared the good news on his social media platform X, revealing that his sister was found safe after falling ill and being taken to a hospital directly from the airport. “Good news… My sister has been found today, she was sick and was taken to the hospital from the airport,” he posted on Sunday.
Jonathan extended thanks to the Nigerian Embassy in Doha, Michael Achimugu — Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) — Qatar Airways, and countless Nigerians who shared appeals, tagged authorities, and supported the family during the ordeal. “And to each and everyone of you who shared, liked, tagged and reached out, God bless you. My family and I are forever grateful,” he stated.
Saratu went missing following her flight from Lagos to Doha on Qatar Airways flight QR1408. She became unreachable for over 48 hours after her arrival, prompting her family to raise the alarm.

Investigations showed that Saratu had safely arrived, collected her luggage, and departed the airport terminal, confirmed by CCTV footage from the airline. Later, it was revealed that her mobile phone and international passport were withheld by Customs officials for clarification, which prevented her from contacting family members. After being cleared, Saratu was released with her belongings and contacted her family to confirm her safety.
This resolution ended growing concerns over her whereabouts, underscoring the power of community support and official cooperation in locating missing persons abroad. Jonathan had earlier called on Nigerians to help amplify the search efforts, noting that Saratu travelled independently and had made prior arrangements for accommodation and employment in Qatar.
