Ogun Police Deploy Officers To Secure 2026 UTME Centres

The Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State has intensified security measures ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), deploying personnel and operational assets across all accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in the state.

The examination, conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), is scheduled to take place from April 16 to April 25, 2026, across 72 centres in Ogun State.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the deployment forms part of proactive and intelligence-driven strategies designed to ensure a safe, orderly, and credible examination process.

According to him, the command has adopted firm security protocols aimed at guaranteeing visible police presence, early threat detection, and swift response to any incidents before, during, and after the examination period.

Babaseyi explained that the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has directed Area Commanders in jurisdictions hosting CBT centres to maintain heightened alertness and take full responsibility for security coordination in their areas.

He noted that officers have been instructed to carry out sustained patrols around examination venues, closely supervise deployed personnel, and work in collaboration with Divisional Police Officers, tactical teams, and JAMB officials to ensure seamless conduct of the exercise.

The police also issued a stern warning against examination malpractice, impersonation, and any form of disorderly conduct, stressing that offenders would face immediate arrest and prosecution.

Reassuring residents and candidates, Ojajuni emphasized the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the examination period.

He urged candidates to comply strictly with examination guidelines and conduct themselves responsibly.

The security reinforcement reflects growing efforts by authorities to maintain the integrity of public examinations while ensuring the safety of candidates, officials, and host communities.
