Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, founder of Omega Power Ministries, officiated the marriage of Aboy Chibuzor, a non-verbal autistic man under his care, to an older single woman on Sunday, March 29, 2026, days after facing nationwide backlash over a viral video in which he sought a spouse for the groom.
Aboy, abandoned as a child at the church gate, has lived under Chinyere’s care since, relying on full-time assistance for feeding, bathing, and other daily activities.
The pastor said the marriage was intended to provide the young man with companionship and long-term support.
The initial proposal sparked outrage, with critics describing it as inappropriate and demeaning to women. Chinyere later apologised, insisting he “can never degrade any woman.”

At the wedding, Chinyere announced financial support for the couple, including a ₦10 million wedding gift, a house, an overseas vacation, and an additional ₦20 million after 10 years if Aboy remains alive.
Members of the congregation also contributed gifts totaling ₦1.2 million.
Sharing photos from the event on social media, Chinyere wrote:
“Aboy CHIBUZOR finally marries today, 29 March 2026. Miracle has already started as Aboy is now feeding himself without assistance.”
Chinyere emphasized that the arrangement is designed to ensure Aboy has lasting companionship and care, noting that his family background remains unknown.
