Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 13 kidnapped victims during separate intelligence-led operations in Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
The military said the operations, carried out by troops of Sector 2, disrupted terrorist activities in the two local government areas and forced the attackers to abandon their captives while fleeing under sustained military pressure.
According to the military, troops based in Bagega acted on credible intelligence indicating that armed terrorists were advancing on motorcycles towards Tungan Kudaduku in Anka Local Government Area.
This was made known in a statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force, Col. Aliyu Danja, on Wednesday.
Supported by real-time surveillance, the troops pursued and engaged the terrorists with what the military described as overwhelming firepower.
A follow-up search of the area led to the discovery of a makeshift terrorist camp, where five kidnapped civilians were found and rescued unharmed.
In a separate operation at Ungwan Rogo in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, troops responded to intelligence on the movement of terrorists in the area.

It was gathered the soldiers engaged the armed group in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to withdraw in disarray and abandon eight kidnapped victims.
The troops also recovered two vehicles during the operation.
According to the military, all 13 rescued victims have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for medical attention and further care.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA said troops continue to dominate the affected areas through sustained offensive operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement and dismantling criminal networks operating across the North-West.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorist groups and restoring peace and security across the region through intelligence-driven operations.
