Police Foil Boko Haram Attack in Borno, Three Abducted as Manhunt Intensifies

The Borno State Police Command has repelled an attack by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on Malari village in Konduga Local Government Area and has launched a massive manhunt to rescue three abducted farmers.

According to security sources quoted by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, on Monday, the incident occurred on November 30, when more than 15 motorcycle-riding insurgents stormed the farming community and began shooting indiscriminately.

During the assault, a 15-year-old boy, Basha Goigoi of Muna, sustained a gunshot wound to the right thigh.

He was immediately evacuated to the General Hospital in Maiduguri, where he is receiving treatment.

The terrorists also abducted three men working on their farms — Alhaji Kundili (35), Baba Goni (45), and Modu Baluye (50), all residents of Malari village.

The police noted that the Crack Squad deployed in Konduga responded swiftly, engaging the assailants in a gun duel and forcing them to flee the area.

A combined search-and-rescue operation has since been launched, involving troops of Operation HADIN KAI, police tactical squads, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters.

The multi-agency team is currently combing the surrounding bushes and escape routes in pursuit of the attackers.

Security agencies have urged residents of Konduga and surrounding communities to remain vigilant and to report suspicious movements promptly to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

The police assured that efforts are being intensified to secure the safe return of the abducted farmers and restore calm in the area.
