Popular Ibadan broadcaster and Accord Party governorship hopeful, Oriyomi Hamzat, has formally entered the race for Oyo State’s top office after obtaining his expression of interest and nomination forms.
Hamzat picked the forms on Monday, May 4, at the party’s secretariat located in Yemetu, Ibadan North Local Government Area, in the presence of supporters and party officials.
Speaking after completing the process, he signalled that his governorship ambition had progressed beyond planning into full political mobilisation.
He elaborated further, stating, “The move signals a new phase of structured mobilisation and political engagement across the state.

“I am here to pick expression of interest and nomination forms for the governorship race in Oyo at our party secretariat, Yemetu in Ibadan.”
The media entrepreneur, who initially declared his intention to contest on January 19, 2026, said his decision was influenced by both consultations with close associates and what he described as divine guidance.
According to him, he carefully considered advice from his inner circle before deciding to run under the Accord Party in the 2027 governorship election.
Hamzat, widely recognised for his influence at the grassroots through Agidigbo FM and his involvement in social advocacy, was warmly received by party leaders and supporters, who turned out in large numbers, chanting and expressing support for his candidacy.
