Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed a popular businessman, Alhaji Sani Sabo, in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
The incident happened on Sunday night around 9:20 p.m. when the assailants stormed the area and opened fire on the businessman.
Residents, angered by the attack, reportedly mobilised to resist the gunmen, killing one of the attackers while others managed to escape.

Alhaji Sabo was widely regarded as a respected philanthropist who consistently supported the less privileged in the community. His death has thrown Lafia and its environs into mourning.
As at the time of filing this report, neither the Nasarawa State government nor security agencies had issued an official statement on the incident.
