Conflicting and rapidly evolving reports have emerged regarding the fate of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, following the joint U.S.–Israeli airstrikes on Tehran earlier today.
Multiple Israeli media outlets, citing senior officials, are reporting that the 86-year-old leader was killed during coordinated strikes that allegedly targeted his residential compound and key military installations. Publications including Reuters, Axios, The Jerusalem Post, The Times of Israel, and Ynet cited unnamed Israeli sources claiming Khamenei’s body was recovered from the rubble of a compound struck in what was described as a “surprise” operation.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated publicly that there were “many signs” and “growing indications” that Khamenei was “no longer” alive, describing the strike as a decisive blow against Iran’s leadership structure. Some reports further claim that Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump were shown photographic or video evidence allegedly confirming the death, though no such materials have been released publicly.
Satellite imagery circulating in international media reportedly shows significant destruction in areas believed to house senior Iranian leadership and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officials.
Iran Strongly Rejects Claim
Iranian authorities have firmly denied the reports.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told NBC News that Khamenei remains alive, stating that, “as far as I know,” the Supreme Leader is safe. An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman also told ABC News and BBC that both Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian are “safe and sound.”

Iranian officials have described the Israeli reports as psychological warfare amid ongoing hostilities. No official statement confirming his death has been issued by Tehran.
No Independent Verification
As of this publication, there is no independent confirmation from neutral observers or international agencies verifying the alleged death. Khamenei has not appeared publicly since the strikes, further fueling speculation.
The uncertainty unfolds amid heightened regional conflict, with continued exchanges between Iran, Israel, and U.S. forces.
The situation remains volatile and developing, with clarity expected as further official statements or independent evidence emerges.
