Troops of the Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled multiple terrorist attacks across Katsina and Zamfara states.
During the operation troops also rescued an abducted district head, recovered weapons and other military items.
The military said the operations, carried out by troops of Sector 2 in collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilantes, formed part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and enhance security across the North-West.
This was made known in a statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Aliyu Danja, on Friday.
In Katsina State, troops on a fighting patrol engaged terrorists between Amara and Chakau Junction in Danmusa Local Government Area after the gunmen opened fire on the soldiers.
Troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with eight rounds of ammunition, and two motorcycles believed to have been used by the terrorists.
In another operation around Sabon Garin and Dantakeri villages in Dutsinma Local Government Area, troops, supported by other security agencies and local vigilantes, responded swiftly to a terrorist attack.
One terrorist was neutralised during the firefight, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.
The troops also foiled a kidnapping operation in Malumfashi Local Government Area after receiving reports that terrorists riding on several motorcycles had invaded Farin Hawa Village and abducted the District Head, Mr. Mubarak Sharin.
According to the military, troops immediately launched a pursuit, intercepted the fleeing terrorists, and engaged them in a fierce gun battle.
It was gathered that one of the kidnappers was neutralised, while the abducted district head was successfully rescued unharmed.

In neighbouring Zamfara State, troops stationed at Dauran in Bukkuyum Local Government Area repelled another terrorist attack.
The military said reinforcements from a fighting patrol joined the engagement, compelling the terrorists to withdraw after intense fighting.
During the exploitation of the area, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 35 rounds of ammunition, a bandolier, and a CamelBak hydration pack abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
Commending the troops for their bravery and professionalism, the Joint Task Force praised the resilience of its personnel and the support of collaborating security agencies throughout the operations.
The Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups across the North-West while strengthening cooperation with local communities to safeguard lives, protect property, and restore lasting peace in the region.
