US Comedian Reggie Carroll Fatally Shot in Southaven, Mississippi

American comedian Reginald “Reggie” Carroll, popularly known as the Knockout King of Comedy, has been shot dead in Southaven, Mississippi. He was 52.

The Southaven Police Department confirmed in a statement on Saturday that Carroll was killed on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. Officers and medical personnel reportedly attempted life-saving measures at the scene, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Police identified Carroll, a Baltimore native, as the victim and disclosed that one suspect has been arrested and charged with his murder. Authorities described the incident as an isolated shooting and assured residents that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Carroll built his career in stand-up comedy, earning national recognition while touring with Katt Williams and headlining his own showcase, Knockout Kings of Comedy. He appeared in the 2000 edition of Showtime at the Apollo, featured in the sitcom The Parkers alongside Mo’Nique and Countess Vaughn, and starred in the 2022 film Rent & Go. In 2023, he produced a comedy special under the Knockout Kings banner.

Tributes have begun pouring in for Carroll, remembered for his energetic stage presence and contributions to American comedy. The Southaven Police Department said investigations into the shooting are ongoing.
