Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has said the FCT Administration plans to provide infrastructure in the newly designated Waru-Pozema District to make the area accessible for residents and property developers.
The minister shared this on Thursday the 12th of March, 2026, while addressing journalists after inspecting a number of ongoing projects across the capital city.
Wike said the administration would engage relevant agencies to assess the provision of basic infrastructure in the district, situated within Cadastral Zone D16.
He explained that the next steps would depend on consultations with the Federal Capital Development Authority and other departments to determine whether the project has been included in the 2026 budget.
He noted that, “About the new district of Waru-Pozema in Cadastral Zone D16, we have to find out from the FCDA or the coordinator what they have in mind, whether it is in the 2026 budget,” he said. “Don’t worry, we will do everything we can to provide the needed infrastructure and open up the district so that people can move in.”
During the inspection tour, the minister also expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded on several judicial infrastructure projects in the territory.
Wike disclosed that contractors handling the Court of Appeal complex had assured him that the project would be delivered by May. He added that the judges’ residential quarters, including those meant for the Federal High Court, had already been furnished.
According to him, the housing project consists of 10 duplexes for the Federal High Court, 20 duplexes for the FCT High Court and another 10 duplexes for the Court of Appeal. He said the facilities are expected to be commissioned during the third anniversary of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The minister also inspected a key road construction project in Katampe, describing the road as one that functions like a ring road around the area. He commended the contractor for the pace and quality of work.
Wike praised China Geo-Engineering Corporation, saying the firm has built a reputation for delivering on its commitments.
He also emphasized that, “It’s one of those companies when they give you their word, you can go to the bank with it,”.

He further commended officials of the Federal Capital Development Authority for closely monitoring the projects through the Acting Executive Secretary, Richard Yunana Dauda.
Explaining why he frequently inspects projects across the territory, Wike said his approach is driven by the responsibility entrusted to him by the president.
“For the President to have confidence in you and give you an assignment, you have no choice but to be committed to the job,” he said.
On the political situation within the Peoples Democratic Party, the minister called on party members to prioritise reconciliation, noting that unity within the party should precede discussions about electoral strategies.
He expressed hope that the party could remain competitive if members commit to genuine reconciliation efforts, adding that attention is currently on preparations for the party’s forthcoming convention.
