Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of ongoing infrastructure projects across Abuja, revealing that clear timelines have been fixed for their completion.
Wike, who spoke during an inspection of key projects, described the works as major interventions that would significantly improve mobility and urban aesthetics in the nation’s capital.
He disclosed that three critical projects are currently underway, with expectations that they will be completed by August.
According to him, road construction in the OSEX corridor is scheduled for delivery as part of activities marking the administration’s third anniversary, adding that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to meeting set targets.
The minister also praised contractors handling projects for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), singling out Chinese Geo-engineering Construction as one of the firms executing major road works. He noted that the quality of work and the level of progress recorded so far were commendable.
Wike further reflected on Abuja’s growth as the city marks its 50th anniversary, saying the FCT has undergone remarkable transformation in recent years.
He attributed the changes to increased investment in infrastructure under the current administration, stressing that the capital’s outlook has been reshaped through deliberate development efforts.
He maintained that all ongoing projects are being implemented in strict adherence to the Abuja master plan, noting that the administration remains committed to orderly and sustainable development.
Commenting on the recent industrial action by labour unions, Wike said the protest had minimal impact on the operations of the FCTA.
He explained that dialogue with labour leaders helped clear misconceptions, as union representatives were able to assess the situation firsthand.
The minister added that leaders of the Joint Unions Action Committee acknowledged the absence of major structural challenges after engagements with the administration, stressing that the resolution process was driven by the collective interest of the FCT.

The project inspection comes on the heels of an extensive infrastructure drive by the minister over the past year.
In 2025 alone, Wike inaugurated several completed road networks, interchanges, and urban renewal projects across strategic districts of Abuja.
These developments, according to the FCTA, are aimed at easing traffic congestion, reducing travel time, and improving connectivity between satellite towns and the city centre, while enhancing access to key commercial and residential hubs.
