Human rights activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has disclosed that the party currently has about 50,000 verifiable members nationwide.
Sowore made the statement during an appearance on Channels Television on Thursday, where he spoke on the strength and structure of the AAC ahead of future political engagements.
According to him, the party would rather maintain an honest and verifiable membership base than make exaggerated claims about its size.
“We have about 50,000 verifiable strong members across board. I’m not going to sit here and lie to you that we have 10 million people that are fake,” Sowore said during the interview.

The former presidential candidate stressed that the AAC’s focus remains on building a credible political movement driven by committed members rather than inflated figures
Sowore, who has consistently positioned himself as an advocate for political reform and transparency, suggested that genuine grassroots participation was more important than announcing unverifiable membership numbers.
His comments come amid increasing political activities and alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as political parties continue efforts to strengthen their structures and expand their support base across the country.
