The National Examinations Council (NECO) has commissioned a new palace for the Mai Angwan Gidan Mangoro in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State.
The facility was commissioned in Minna on Thursday, September 10, 2026, by NECO Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, who was also turbaned as Maji Dadin Gidan Mangoro.
Wushishi said the project demonstrated NECO’s commitment to supporting its host communities beyond its statutory examination and certification duties.
He stressed that peaceful and stable communities were essential to educational development and described traditional institutions as vital to preserving culture and strengthening social cohesion.
The registrar commended Gidan Mangoro residents for their cooperation with NECO, saying the relationship had enabled the council to operate effectively.

Wushishi listed other interventions by NECO, including motorised boreholes in Gidan Mangoro and Gbaganako, two transformers each for Wushishi and Gidan Mangoro, and skills training for 20 Gidan Mangoro residents under a NECO-Industrial Training Fund programme.
The council also sponsors a secondary school challenge and quiz competition in Niger State and facilitates NECO examinations in a school within the host community.
The latest project follows earlier NECO interventions in the area. In 2016, the council provided boreholes to Gidan Mangoro and Gbaganako and supported indigent students with learning materials and examination sponsorship.
Representatives of the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago; Sarkin Samarin Minna, Alhaji Garba Salihu; Hakim of Bosso, Alhaji Mua’azu Adamu Laka; and Mai Angwan Gidan Mangoro, Mallam Sani Zagi, commended NECO for its community interventions.
Wushishi reaffirmed the council’s commitment to sustaining support for its host communities and initiatives that promote local development.
