Osun APC Denies Endorsing Candidates For 2027 Legislative Polls

The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has rejected claims that its leadership has already backed candidates for the 2027 National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections.

The state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, addressed the issue in a statement released on Monday, the 9th of March, 2026. He urged party members to ignore what he described as misleading reports circulating in political circles.

Lawal explained that the party leadership had neither met nor reached any resolution on endorsing aspirants for the legislative contests scheduled for 2027.

According to him, “There is no iota of truth in the claim that the leadership of the party has anointed candidates for the National and House of Assembly elections.”

He said the rumour was being pushed by individuals trying to stir unnecessary tension within the party as preparations gather pace ahead of the state’s next governorship election.

“It was wrong for some elements to be spewing falsehoods from the corners of their rooms depicting that the leadership of the party has anointed some candidates,” Lawal said.

He asked members and supporters of the party to disregard the claims, describing them as deliberate misinformation aimed at creating instability within the party.

“I want to appeal to the esteemed members and loyal supporters of our party to discountenance the misinformation and disinformation and consign same to the dustbin of information,” he said.

Lawal urged party members to channel their energy toward the forthcoming governorship poll and rally behind the party’s candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, and his running mate, Benjamin Kayode Adereti.

He said securing victory in the governorship race would strengthen the party’s position for future elections in the state.

“What should preoccupy the minds of our members now should be the concerted efforts to collectively work for the victory of our governorship candidate and his running mate,” he stated.

The chairman warned that actions capable of creating internal rifts in pursuit of personal ambition would not advance the party’s shared goals.

Reaffirming the party’s stance, Lawal maintained that the leadership under him had not endorsed any aspirant for the National Assembly or State House of Assembly elections.

“It is a figment of the imagination of those propagating the falsehood deliberately to destabilise our party,” he added.
