Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a China-based Nigerian businessman and two Angolan nationals who excreted a combined total of 236 wraps of cocaine following their interception at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
The 34-year-old suspect, Ibeanu Vincent Chukwudulue, was apprehended on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, while onboard Qatar Airways flight QR1432 from Kano to China via Abuja and Doha. Acting on credible intelligence, NDLEA officers at the Abuja airport ordered that he be deboarded for screening. A body scan confirmed he had ingested illicit substances.
He was placed under observation and subsequently excreted 52 pellets of cocaine weighing 735.95 grams.
This was contained in a statement released on Sunday by the Director, Media & Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Femi Babafemi.
In the statement, Ibeanu disclosed that he previously operated a business on Lagos Island before relocating to Guangzhou, China, in 2024.
On the same day, two Angolan nationals — Mbandu Martins Makiadi, 50, and Ngoma Wilson Fernando, 52 — were intercepted at the departure hall of the Kano airport during clearance for an outbound Ethiopian Airlines flight ET940 to Istanbul, Turkey, via Addis Ababa.
The NDLEA noted that body scans confirmed both men had ingested illicit drugs.
Under observation, Mbandu excreted 76 wraps of cocaine weighing 920 grams in seven excretions, while Ngoma expelled 108 pellets weighing 1.33 kilograms in five excretions.
During interrogation, the suspects, who hail from Hoji Ya Henda in Luanda, Angola, claimed they were recruited by a Luanda-based automobile spare parts dealer who promised to pay them $3,000 each upon successful delivery of the drugs in Turkey.
In a separate development, NDLEA operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, thwarted an attempt by a convicted drug trafficker, Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, to export 1.10 kilograms of cocaine to London on a Virgin Atlantic flight.
Oladimeji, who is currently serving a five-year jail term at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre following his 2025 conviction for conspiracy to export 17.90 kilograms of cocaine, allegedly orchestrated the latest trafficking scheme from prison.
The cocaine was concealed in processed cassava granules (garri) and packed for export through his company, Dimeji Express Logistics.
NDLEA officers at the export shed of the Lagos airport intercepted the consignment on Thursday, February 12.
It was gathered that a company staff member, Adedeji Yusuf Gbolahan, who presented the shipment for export was immediately arrested. Investigations revealed Oladimeji directed Yusuf from prison to collect the drug consignment in Oshodi for export.
In another case at the Lagos airport, a 44-year-old estate surveyor, Adelaja Taiwo Adetayo, was arrested for attempting to export 1.70 kilograms of skunk concealed in five jerry cans to the United Kingdom.
The cargo agent who presented the consignment, Mustapha Quddus Opeyemi, was initially arrested, while a follow-up operation led to Adelaja’s arrest in the Ahmadiyya area of Lagos on February 9.
In Abuja, NDLEA operatives intercepted a waybill package from Enugu containing a children’s toy guitar used to conceal two parcels of Canadian Loud, a strain of cannabis weighing 59.2 grams.
A follow-up operation led to the arrest of the owner, Henry Onuma, at Dream City Estate, Life Camp.
Meanwhile, in Lagos, NDLEA officers raided a four-bedroom duplex in Ikate-Elegushi, Lekki, used for the production and storage of Colorado, a synthetic cannabis.
The raid followed the seizure of 73 cartons of nitrous oxide at Iyare Motor Park along the Ajah–Epe expressway.
Two suspects — Amos Innocent and Victor Oyedeji — were arrested, while 13.2 kilograms of freshly produced Colorado and precursor chemicals were recovered.

Across its commands nationwide, the NDLEA sustained its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaign in schools, worship centres, workplaces, and communities over the past week, conducting enlightenment lectures in Oyo, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Katsina, and Lagos states.
Commending officers of the MAKIA, MMIA, NAIA, Lagos, Edo, Kwara, FCT, and Oyo Commands for their professionalism, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, urged personnel across the country to maintain a balanced approach in drug supply and demand reduction efforts.
