The Yobe State Police Command has launched a manhunt for an 18-year-old housewife who allegedly attacked her husband in a violent domestic incident in Potiskum, leaving him critically injured.
According to the police, the incident occurred at about 1 a.m. on February 6, 2026, but was reported later that afternoon at the Potiskum Divisional Police Station. The police spokesperson, Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Damaturu.
Mr Abdulkarim said preliminary findings indicated that the suspect allegedly used a sharp object to inflict severe injury on her husband before fleeing the scene. Police operatives who responded to the report promptly visited the location and rushed the victim to the State Specialist Hospital in Potiskum for emergency care. He was later referred to the Federal Medical Centre in Azare, where he is currently receiving specialist treatment.
The police said investigations are ongoing to locate and arrest the suspect, while also working to establish the circumstances that led to the incident. Some details, the command noted, were deliberately withheld to protect the victim from further emotional and psychological trauma.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, Emmanuel Ado, condemned the act and described it as deeply disturbing. He stressed that marriage should be founded on mutual respect, patience and understanding, warning that violence has no place in domestic relationships.
“Marriage must never be an avenue for violence, abuse or humiliation,” the commissioner said, while urging couples facing challenges to seek lawful and peaceful means of resolving disputes.
